And, so it begins...

Although we have read only a few pages of The Crucible, we have encountered the basic premise of the play: some girls can't awake after being caught dancing in the woods.  Rumors are beginning and turning toward "supernatural" causes.  Why do you think people must have "reasons" for actions that they find out of the ordinary or strange?  Why do you think the Puritans have turned toward evil/devilish causes so quickly?  (The deadline to post a response is midnight, Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014.)

I think that people have to have reasons for strange or out of the ordinary things because if they didn't people would think that the are crazy. I think that the Puritans are doing these things because they are so forceful with people following the teachings of the Bible and Christ.

I think they should have reasons for the strange things that they see so people would not think that they are not telling the truth. Everything the Puritans do or say revolve around Christ and they do the things they do because they are trying to convert people.

I think people should have reasons for abnormal things because people need and want some kind of explanation. I think the Puritans turned toward devilish causes because some people witnessed the girls conjuring with the dead and dancing. These are things Puritans just do not do because they are so religious. So in the eyes of the Puritans it had to do with evil.
