Land Ho!

Having read two selections by European explorers to America--Christopher Columbus and John Smith--we have discussed their focus upon abundance, religion, wealth, and hospitality of Early America.  Time has changed these concepts of America in many ways. Which of the four aspects(abundance, religion, wealth, and hospitality) has remained basically the same throughout American history?  Which has changed the most?  Explain.  (The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight, Thursday, February 13, 2014.)

I would say religion has not changed that much in a way. There is different beliefs now . We have freedom of religion, so we are free to worship our beliefs. I would say abundance has changed the most. Everyday more and more people come to America, and are born in America. The population is rising steadily, and we are having less and less abundance. Trees cut down to build more houses, little bits of land sold for a good bit of money. The more people less there is of abundance.

I think hospitality has stayed the same the most because americans are known for our hospitality, especially southern mississippians. I think abundance has changed the most because people back then didn't think about saving what they had and making sure there was enough for the future

I think that the aspect that has mostly stayed the same is Religion since even to today the United States is filled with religion, most notably Catholic and Baptism. The aspect I think has changed the most is Abundance mainly since when the first settlers came to America they had ideas of wealth and prosperity on their minds not conservation of natural resources, so as time progressed they did not notice much of a shortage but in the end many resources have been lost or are close to gone.

I think the thing that has not changed is religion. People these days still believe the same thing as the people of their religion believed back then. Most religions do not just start believing something else over time. Wealth is the aspect that has changed the most over the years. These days people think money is the most important thing in life. It is almost like the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting more poor. Prices of things are constantly rising and peoples paychecks are staying the same.

Overall, I feel that religion has remained the same out of everything. People still go to church on Sundays, they pray at mealtimes, and many other things. I think that hostpitality has changed most of all over the many years. You may notice that people are not as civilaized or are as well manered as they were back then.
