You're as cold as ice...

Since the moment she is mentioned in the play by Abigail Williams, Elizabeth is depicted as "cold" natured.  Based upon what we have read thus far--midway Act Two---why do you feel that Elizabeth is so cold and distant?  What makes you relate or understand her lack of happiness and warmth?   (The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight, Tuesday, September 9, 2014.)

She is cold and distant because she knows John and Abigail had an affair. We see that she is distant because when John got home, they just made small talk, and they didn't seem like a happy couple. Another time we see her unhappiness is when John kissed her and instead of kissing him back, she just received the kiss.

she is so distant and cold because John had an affair with Abigail. We can see that they are distant because as John was up looking out the door she just got up and started to clean the table off and he just watched her as she washed the dishes but it was never the same because they do not talk as much as they do. She is holding back from him because, yes, he did confess that he was having an affair, but she has lost all trust in him.

She is so cold and distant because she is mad that john had an affair and technically lied about it because he had said that Abigail and him had been doing something but he didn't mention that they were alone, nor did he tell her that they were "doing the nasty." I would probably want to kill someone that would lie to me like that!!!!!!!!

I think she is cold because she knows about John's affair, and he always mentions it as if it didn't mean anything, but to Elizabeth it meant. She is resentful about it, and never truly forgave him. She is trying to continue with her marriage, but she will never forget the fact that John betrayed her.
