A Southern Belle...

Today, we met Miss Emily Grierson in "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner.  What are two characteristics/personality traits that you gathered about Miss Emily?  Explain how you inferred these traits?  (The deadline to post a response is midnight, Wednesday, May 14, 2014.)

Miss Emily is kind of rude. She seems to not take anything from anyone like when the people came to collect the taxes. She got them to leave without having to pay anything. Also Emily also is intimidating and people are scared of her. Instead of telling her that her house stinks the people snuck onto her property and put lime on it to help the smell.

Miss Emily is rude to everyone in town. She seems pompous because she thinks she doesn't have to do the things the other people of the town do, such as paying taxes. When they came to her house to tell her that she had taxes to pay, she refused to pay them because a long time ago her family didn't have to pay taxes. She's very intimidating throughout the entire story. She didn't leave her house after her boyfriend "left" her and everyone was suspicious of that but some were understanding.
