The Journey to Self

Many of the pieces of Early American/Colonial Literature encompass self-exploration and self-discovery and self-improvement. Which piece of writing--"Upon the Burning of Our House," "Huswifery, The Narrative of Olaudah Equiano, or the selections from Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography--did you find most interesting?  In this piece, what did the author learn or understand about him/herself? What did you learn from this self-exploration about people?  (The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight, Monday, February 13, 2012.)

I found Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography to be the most interesting. From this selection, it was clear to me that when Franklin first arrived, he was unhappy with his decision. However, no matter how hungry or poor he was, he always gave too others. I believe he learned from his experience that he want to follow a set of guidelines to make sure he stayed a good person inside and out. I learned from this self-exploration that if you work toward a set of goals, the outcome will be worth it. All that you have too do is try.
