In the beginning...

We have read the letter of Columbus, the persuasive writing of John Smith, and the diary of William Bradford.  From these three different works, what is your overall impression of the "New World" and the people who discovered and settled it?  Explain.  (The deadline to post a response to this blog is midnight, Wednesday, February 8, 2012.)

From these three different works, my overall impression of the "New World" and the people who discovered and settled it, is admirable. Columbus thought he had discovered the Indies but really dicovered the Americas. The persuasive writing of John Smith was to get people to go to the "New World". He wrote about how great the journey was to the Americas. For example, he wrote about how calm the waters were when in reality they were brutal. Also one of the things talked about in the diary of William Bradford was the people from his homeland came to the Americas they could have religious freedom. All these people are admirable because they just wanted better for their people back home.

the way they described the earth was very rich and fertile. but infact it was actually quite dead I believe the way the three writers described the New World they described it as at first it was harsh then the New World started gradually getting better. these newcomers were very respectful to the Native Americans although they were not very smart. The puritans who found America made friends with the Native Americans after they met each other .
