Soul Speaks through Ink...

We have just begun our study of American poetry by reading "Thanatopsis,"  "The Children's Hour," "Cross of Snow," "Psalm of Life," "Song of Myself," "Because I Could Not Stop for Death," "O Captain! My Captain," "The Raven," and "Annabel Lee."  Select any two of these poems and comment upon what the speaker was saying in each and how you felt reading them.  (The deadline to post a response is midnight, Saturday, April 14, 2012)

"O Captain! My Captain," and "The Raven" are very similar i think. In both they are speaking of a very sad and painful loss of someone. Although in O Captain, My Captain it is the loss of Abraham Lincoln and in the Raven it is more a recounting of the girl he lost. I was mostly affected by "The Raven" it made me feel sad because I know how it feels to lose someone and I understand how impossible it is to forget someone that you truly love
