Yes, I think he did. The whole town would despise him and make his family pay for it. They would blame the whole trial on him. His sons would never feel the same about their father. "It is my name....." He means his reputation would be ruined for life and you dont get another name.

Yes. I do believe that John Proctor made the right decision at the end of "The Crucible". He proved to all of us throught his final actions that he is the most humane character. John Proctor showed that he put others before himself and his goodness was not seen by the hipocritical judges. Proctor exclaims,"...what others say and what I sign to do is not the same!" He means that he does not have to sign to lies for confessing to them is enough.

I believe that John Proctor did make the right decision at the end of The "Crucible". When Elizabeth confronts John, the readers think that he will falsely confess and be saved from hangning. Although John does confess, he does not allow "his name" to be blackened. John does this for his sons because he knows if his name is blackened he will not be able to raise them as righteous men. I believe, just as Elizabeth says "John has his goodness now".

I belive that John Proctor made the right decison in the end. Even though he did confess and was going to sell his friends out he did not in the end because in the end he shows that he is a good man by saying "I do think i see some shred of goodness in John Proctor. Not enough to weave a banner with, but white enough to keep it from such dogs."(pg144 6th dialouge down)

I believe that John made the right decision. He remained honest and true to both himself and his friends. He may have also done to repent for his sin. By refusing to confess he very well proved his innocence. To further emphasize that John has made the right decision Elizabeth says "He has his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him"
