Is it really love?
Does Gatsby truly love Daisy or the idea of loving Daisy? What specifically (give a quote or example) makes you believe this? (This post closes at midnight on Thursday, December 11, 2009)
In my opinion, I think Gatsby truly loves Daisy. Ever since they had an affair way back before Tom, Gatsby's love for Daisy has only become stronger. This shows by how long he waited for her and how he trys to impress her in every little way. Gatsby had no affair with any other while they were away from each other. Also, even though he wanted Daisy to come clean and tell Tom that she does not love him, he was patient enough to wait for Daisy.
I honestly do believe that Gatsby truely loves Daisy. He has waited five years for Daisy to see his mansion and clothing. Gatsby has bought all these things to impress her and whenever they reunite, he show's her this and she realizes that Gatsby never stopped loving her.
