Remember when you were in elementary school? Every day you came home and one of the first things your mother asked was "What did you learn today?" You are researching your own self-picked topic. Tell us something you learned about that topic today. (The deadline to post a response to this blog question is midnight Friday, March 25, 2011.)

Today I learned that the New York Times included and article about teenagers lined up to see a show at a theatre that lead to violence. The article said that they smashed windows and destroyed the ticket seller's box. The headline read "The Blue-Jean and Leather Jacket Set." Rock and roll is credited for this violence and the blue-jeans and leather are a symbol of its iconography of delinquency.

Yesterday, I learned an exceptional statistic. A man who studied capital crimes for twenty-three years discovered that 7 out of 10 cases were resversible; the man presumed for death was actually innocent. Also, a former governor of Illinois sentenced 164 death row victims to life in prison without parole due to the fact that the previous year, he released more innocent men from death row than men who were actually executed.
